[Leo returning the hug is reassuring. As Donnie lets out a sigh of relief at the contact being returned.

He wants to say something, but he's not sure what to say. He already said that Leo isn't allowed to disappear, so saying that again seems pointless so instead...]

[Leo half flops onto Donnie, just invading his space. There is no escape.]

Wanna help me fold cranes? I think if you fold a thousand of them, you get a wish. Maybe we can share a wish?

[He accepts his fate of having Leo flopped upon him.

Although he is a bit surprised at the offer to fold cranes.]

I'm probably not that good at it, but... sure?

Dee, my cranes started out looking funky, but got better. Then funky again when I lost a hand.

I think you're gonna be more than fine. [He gestures with his stub vaguely, more out of muscle memory of having a hand.]

Leo, unless it's like... Schematics, I can barely draw a straight line. Folding is probably the same thing.

[But hey, he will pick up a piece of paper and fiddle with it after letting go of Leo first of course.]

Its like following a schematic, Dee. Just gotta learn it. [Leo picks up his own piece of paper.]

Lemme walk you through it.

[He gives pretty clear instructions with his awkward one handed folds, walking Donnie through the process of making a crane.]

... Okay.

[And he will raptly pay attention to Leo's instructions before attempting it himself.

It's so bad, the folds are crooked and his first attempt is nothing like a crane at all. It takes everything Donnie has to not crumple it up and chuck it at the wall, but he for sure makes an annoyed sound at his failure.]

Pretty good attempt, Dee. I like it. Good beak, good neck on there. [Leo looks at the crinkly crooked crane and finds the positives in it easily enough. Donnie has the right shape mostly in place.]

Now you gotta go for attempt two, and see where you land.

[He almost says "Don't lie to me" at Leo's words but ah yes, his brother is a faerie and thus can't lie. So he just lets out an annoyed huff as he goes to pick up another piece of paper and go for attempt number two.

Which turns out slightly, but not much more, better than the first one.]

See, progress. [Leo for his part is actively encouraging. He's relaxed back in his bed, chilling out with his twin.]

Your wings are already looking better. You're getting a lot closer to a crisper fold.

[His folding takes a bit longer since he's doing it all one handed, but he does figure it out, producing a much nicer looking crane. Practice showing in the way its folded perfectly in places.]

[He places his second crane on the bed next to his first one before he'll get another piece of paper to try again. But he does wait a bit and watch as Leo goes about it first.]

... You really don't believe that making a thousand of these will give you a wish, right?

I mean, its worth a shot, right? Most people don't believe in half the stuff we've seen, Dee. [Leo shrugs a little with the sentiment.]

Most people aren't us, Leo. [But whatever, he's going to try for a third time. This time taking it slow and doing his best to not mess it up.

Donnie might be sticking his tongue out a little as he folds his crane too.]

[Leo notices the kitty blep on display and snorts a little.] Kinda proves my point, Dee.

If we can exist, if magic can exist, just indulging on something silly can be fun too.

We're not magic, we're just... Fucked up science. [Unaware of how that sounds, as he's veryyy focused on his folding.

Also, don't mind the brief look on his face at the mention of magic. Sure he's a bit more accepting of it since unlocking his ninpo but... Old habits die hard.]

Prettttyyy sure we got pops family magic, but sure, Dee. [He will continue to be a menace about that much.]

It makes me feel better, that's, kinda all it really is. [He admits, eventually balancing the crane on his leg to get a particularly hard fold.]

... Well if it does that then I guess I can help out. [As he's finishing off his crane and well... It's lopsided but much better than his first two.]

Oh, so magic is genetic? [Just going to needle Donnie vaguely.

Okay, he's a little surprised Donnie wants to help out. He sort of expected his twin to indulge him for now.]

And Leo's surprise isn't going to be acknowledged, as going for attempt number four at a crane now.]

Magic exists, its genetic and also can include other people, like April. So, technically not always genetic. [Gotta point that out, since April is connected to the family ninpo. If she wasn't included as part of their family, he would've had to shake down some dead ninja's.]

True, you got some dexterity stuff to figure out. [He finishes his first crane, gingerly setting it aside.] I'm just slow now. Kind of a bummer.

At least I can still do this, sure can't really play basketball anymore. [He manages to not get too sad about the thought.]

April is basically related, genetics or not. [Don't point out flaws in his logic, Leo.]

At least I got some of it figured out... [Just absently folding the paper he has, not really going for a crane at the moment. Especially at Leo saying he can't play basketball anymore.]

[Leo laughs a little in passing at Donnie's immediate protest.]

Clearly, I gotta put you on crane folding duty to make you the cat paw'd guy who can do anything.

[He shrugs a little as he picks out another piece of paper to slowly start folding.]

I know, Dee. I'm not rushing you. Making a whole arm here is probably gonna take forever.

[Fold, fold and at Leo saying he's not rushing him? Whoops, claws come out and now he's shredding the paper.]

If we were home I would've had it done within a week. Just, [Ripping up the paper now, not even aware he's doing it.] so much stupid stuff happens here.

[Leo pauses his own folding, just watching the shredding. Just a little sad the paper is wasted, but it isn't the biggest issue.] Don, hey- I believe in your genius, but making a whole arm would've taken a bit longer. Especially since if I was at home, I would've taken months to heal from this kind of injury.

[Alas poor paper, we knew thee well.]

No, it wouldn't have. Because I'd have my lab and my tech and things like like... Argh. [He's getting frustrated by the situation now that he can actually think about it.]
