[He gives a nod, then makes a broad gesture with one hand.]
You are as much a part of this as I am, sharing the risks, and, hopefully, the rewards. It would be wrong not to take your wishes into account, and to leave you unaware of the danger.
[He's quiet for a moment. Then, Sherlock straightens, standing up from the wall, and folds his arms behind his back.]
The agents, who worked for my brother. All too often, they would wind up dead. He told them only what he felt they needed to know -- moving them around like they were no more than chess pieces. [The anger and disgust as he says that is subtle, but present.] Perhaps that is what one signs up for, when one goes into the intelligence service. And yet, it never seemed right to me.
[He's pretty sure he's mentioned this to the turtles before, but it bears repeating, in this case.]
It is true that I have secrets of my own. I have concealed these activities from all but my closest confederates. Bucky knows, and so does Rachel. Now, you have the information needed to draw your own conclusions. Everyone else, even Jon, is utterly ignorant. Still...
[Where, precisely, is the difference between what he is doing and what Mycroft is doing? Or, for that matter, what Donnie and Leo did in July?]
...I don't want to use you. Not the way he does. I would sooner compromise my own secret than see you come to harm. Remember that, if it becomes a question.
[He won't keep all this under wraps at all costs. Just until the cost of keeping it is greater than the risks that accompany revealing it. He and Donatello are a team, collaborators, and Bucky would be at risk if the matter were cause trouble.
He should probably tell Leo.
...
After he reaches the third tier.]

[He does listen to what else Sherlock has to say on the subject though, especially the comparison to his brother. Donnie tilts his head at that, confused because well...
In his case he wants to be so much like his own brothers, in certain areas, that it kind of doesn't make sense to him. But Sherlock continues on, about who actually knows the truth and who doesn't and how he's rather give up his secret than see Donnie come to harm.]
Well you don't need to worry about that. I've been used by an adult I trusted once before, I try to avoid it happening again. But like, your secret is safe with me.

Thank you, Donnie.
[He means it.]
...
Would you care to tell me what happened? The last time someone used you.
[Sherlock finds he actually wants to know.]

Eh, it was a parent aged adult who complimented my work and then turned on us in a bad way. Not much more to it then that.

I see. Well -- it is quite sensible to endeavour to avoid repeat occurrences.
[And to be aware of the possibility that not everyone who is nice to you and compliments you means well.]
That was all. I'll keep you informed of further developments.

[Is all Donnie has to say on that subject, and really if Sherlock wanted to know he could always grill Leo about it.
As to being kept informed, Donnie nods as he moves to leave.]
Thanks, hopefully you won't need to do that.
[And he'll take his leave of Sherlock now.]
