Their thing remains gross. Extra gross. [Unsurprisingly, Leo falls into step to follow Bucky out into the hall.

He's curious about what Bucky bought too. He too wants to grab some snacks.] Oh, so we're all just weird lab abominations then, cool, cool.

[A bag of chips is what Donnie got his hands on, chomp chomp, as he follows Bucky and Leo out of the room.]

Just one happy family of experiments then... Not that I'd mean it, that way.

[Just shoving chips into his mouth to stop himself from saying anything else embarrassing.]

[For his part, Bucky chuckled at the descriptions, setting the bags on the kitchen table and taking out the wrapped meat to set it on the counter, before turning to start taking out other bits and pieces to put away.]

Family of experiments sounds about right. The dried fruit is mine, you guys can have at anything else.

[He's figured out teenage boys quickly enough, after all.]

[Leo is openly very pleased by Donnie all but agreeing they are a family. He manages to not be smug about it.]

Family of experiments gotta stick together. [Unsurprisingly as soon as the bag is on the table top, Leo is trying to reach into the bag to fish out some snacks.

He pulls out a snack for himself, popping it open to start eating.] Is that meat for dinner-?

[Good thing Leo refrains from being smug about it, because if he had Donnie would so be taking back what he said.

As he eats his chips, and Leo asks about the meat he also chimes in.]

Yeah, what's for dinner?

Half of this is for dinner, half is for tomorrow's dinner, I'm going to slow roast it with some potatoes and carrots and things so it gets good and tender and seasoned. The other half I'm going to cut into strips and make into stir fry with rice. That said, if there's any other thoughts, I'm open for ideas. I've run through most of the cookbooks at the library.

[Bucky was heading over for the counter, snorting a little at Leo and Donnie both already chowing down on snacks.] I have a feeling I should just start buying in bulk on those.

[Leo nibbles at his snack, actually trying to not cause crumbs, his spider brain can't handle it. He sniffs vaguely in the direction of the meat, unable to figure out what it is.]

Those sound good to me. I mean, you and Mikey make some of the same stuff. Though he made fancier stuff cause he could. He watched all those cooking shows to get that info.

Prrooobbbalyyy, I mean, snacks are good. I can bring some home from work too. I mean, I stocked us up on ramen for the next two months. [Unsurprisingly, Leo's love language is just slowly observing his family and making gifts he give them seem accidental.]

[Donnie just nods, as he's got a mouthful of chips at this moment and it would just be rude to speak with a mouthful of food, as he also moves over to look at the meat.

Sure he's not Mikey but curiosity has him wondering what kind of meat it is, and he can't place it either. As he swallows what he has in his mouth before he talks.]

Man, make me feel inadequate on the bringing stuff home from work front, Leo.

[His tone is light, as it is obviously as joke. Since Leo knows he works at a bar and thus unable to bring anything home.]

I will simply repeat my "neither of you need to work if you don't want to" and then move on.

[By now it was clear that he was just saying it from habit as much as anything, and the smile also made it clear he knew what the answer was.]

You don't have to bring anything home either, although I do appreciate the ramen though, Leo. Still experimenting with those a lot. Gotta say though, the flavor mixing is iffy.

[With the rest of the things put away, Bucky doesn't hesitate to move and get a knife and cutting board, setting the meat on it to start slicing off thin pieces for the apparent stir fry.]

[He sticks his tongue out at his brother teasingly.] If you start playing us some music, we'll consider that what you brought back from work, nerd.

[Leo still can't completely figure out just what that meat is. Then again, he assumes its just like some weird looking chicken.]

Yeah, but, work can be fun sometimes. [Leo says with a lazy kind of shrug, managing to not get crumbs everywhere in the gesture.] You'll find all the best combos soon enough, Buckaroo. Just takes time.

I mean, you haven't done the Raph method, which is eat the whole block dry and then drink the broth after.

[Just going to throw some chips at Leo sticking his tongue out, totally aware that the mess will bother his brother.]

I like working, it's better than just doing nothing.

[And yeah the meat totally has him baffled too. Sure he could ask, but that would be the quitters way. And he is totally going with weird pork, they probably have some weird pigs in Ryslig after all.

And oh god, the Raph method.]

I don't think anyone sane would try the Raph method.

Easy on the chip throwing, I still haven't found a vacuum that works worth a damn.

[Still said casually enough. Still trimming the mysterious meat. It's just an ordinary case of preparing food for dinner, nothing more.]

I can't get into eating the dry noodles. People have told me that they're good that way but they aren't. ...though I do have to admit the little packets do make very tasty soup.

[He has not just used the packets for soup and drank them without the noodles in the past, thank you very much.]

[The chip bounces against Leo's plastron and he catches it before it can fall, his eye twitching vaguely.]

You'd probably rule a school if you like set your mind to it, Dee. [Purposefully eats the chip whilst also being positive to his twin, such is life.]

I mean, you don't doublefist the soup and the noodles like Raph does.

[He sees that eye twitch, Leo, and he can't help but grin a little. But with Bucky saying to be easy on the chip throwing, he'll be good.

For now.]

Academically, I could yes. Socially? No, that would probably be you. [He is quite willing to admit he's no social person after all.]

And aren't the packets supposed to make broth anyway? [Not touching the fact their oldest brother double fists soup and noodles.]

Oh, are you two thinking about going to school? I wasn't sure how much either of you might consider that on the table.

[Bucky was quite proficient with a knife, as it turned out, and collecting a pile of thin slices of the meat was rather swift, with him stopping only once or twice to test at the edge of the knife. Finally done, he set the knife in the sink, moving to the sink to wash his hands.]

I'll leave that one up to you two. I don't think either of you need the academic part of school, but maybe finding more peers could be fun.

[Says the man who's less social than either of them.]

That's if its even a challenge for you, Dee. We dunno what the school is even like. [He shrugs a little in turn.]

I dunno, school seems mega-boring, but... [He isn't quite sure how to bring up the fact his boss politely told him he needed to go to school. Maybe he'll bring it up with Donnie eventually.] Maybe.

I make a lot of friends anyway, and Donnie has like this thing with Ray going on. So it'd be just more social stuff.

Yeah, yeah. [He waves with his not holding a chip bag hand dismissively.]

I've been meaning to look into it, the school. Just things keep happening. [At Leo mentioning his friendship with Rachel? Donnie is just going to be so much more interested in his chips now, yep. Not touching that topic.]

Ray? [Bucky raised an eyebrow, glancing over at the two of them, but went right back to his food preparation.] Would you two rather have rice or noodles to go with stir fry?

[He was leaving space for the subject to drop, if having it dropped was desired.]

[Leo clasps his hands together, batting his non existent eyelashes at Donnie as he goes for the proverbial kill.] Donnies giirrrrlfriend. That's who Ray is. He went on a date with her on Valentines Day!

[Sure the timeloop interrupted that, but, shhh.]

I want rice, please. [Look, manners!]

[Donnie seriously considers just going to punch Leo for that, but shall not! Oh no, he shall get his brother later when he least expects it. Instead just focused on his chips and Bucky's question.]

It got cancelled so does it really count? [Okay so he has to clarify that bit of information, at least, and then he'll answer Bucky's question.]

Rice, of course, just goes better with a stir fry.

Good because I was already planning for rice but it occurred to me I hadn't really double checked. Frying noodles with other things is a pain in the ass. I'll do it, but I'm gonna whine the whole time.

[Bucky did look up at the mention of a Valentine's date, seeming rather puzzled for a moment.] I don't...remember anything about a date? When did that happen? Did I miss it?

[Thanks to the Whole Thing with that time period, Bucky is aware of the passage of time, but not entirely aware that anything of note happened during said passage of time.]

We're little grain guys in this household, so no whining needed.

C'mon, man, it totally counted. [He sticks his tongue out a little. Bucky's question does distract Leo from heckling Donnie.]

We were all collectively stuck in a time loop, dad. [He says this probably too casually.] I think in at least one, Donnie actually went out with Ray to the skate park.

At least twice, by the third time I was kind of... Aware of the loop and stuff that was going on. [He remembers the whole thing, it's kind of unnerving in a way. But he's not sharing that information with Bucky and Leo.]

And it got called off in the one that counts, so that means it never happened. So don't worry about it, Bucky. [That and he's unaware of if Rachel remembers it at all either.]

[From the way Bucky turned to stare at the two of them, it was clear he was trying to figure out if they were just messing with him or not. Likely they'd been able to figure out on their own that he had never been aware of the loops, so it probably wasn't much of a surprise.

Either way, whether he decided he believed them or just decided to humor them, he turned his attention to the fridge, taking out a few various vegetables.]

Well, it's good to know you two are making friends, either way. If anything more comes of that, that's good too.

Def worry about it, cause you need to reschedule, nerd boy. She's your friend, so hanging out will be fun for both of you.

[Is he badgering both of them in different threads about it? Yes. He drops the teasing for now, apparently content to just be a pain in a different way.] I think this is the most socializing we've done, I mean, we didn't get to go the Hidden City that much to meet people, and who wants to socialize when you're getting pizza at Run of The Mill?
