Yeah, it's not like we're back home. [Where dumpster diving and raiding junk yards was the norm for them. He'll look down at the suit and just, with a foot kind of try to kick it away so it's hidden again.]

[It wasn't like the boys weren't allowed in his room. Bucky genuinely didn't mind them coming or going at any point, as long as they left the room darkening curtains alone when he was in there. He liked being available any time they needed him.

That didn't make it less weird to come back in from grocery shopping and discover the two of them in front of his closet, seemingly horrified over something.]

If this is about the box of harpy feathers, I've got plans for those, [was all he finally said, still holding a couple shopping bags.]

[It was inevitable Bucky would return, but Leo startles a little at his return anyway, whipping around to face the confused gargoyle.]

Wait, feathers-? [That just throws Leo off even worse.]

We literally found your gimp suit! That is way worse than feathers!

[Donnie is also startled a little by Bucky showing up, as he also turns to look at the gargoyle... And Leo's got the feathers thing kind of covered, so he is just going to be brave and...

Reach down to pick up the so called "gimp" suit to hold up for all to see and say nothing. Just look judgingly at Bucky.]

[None of this really answered the question for Bucky, who looked at the suit, then back at the boys, raising an eyebrow.]

That's my old HYDRA uniform. What the hell is a gimp suit?

Wait, wait, wait, wait, waaaiiiiiiiiiiit- [Leo is waving his claws around wildly as the gears are turning in his head.] Those people who kidnapped you for decades made you put on a gimp suit!?

[Okay Donnie is... Trying to keep a serious face, especially with Leo's reaction but with what Bucky says well...]

So it's a tactical uniform, not a gimp suit.

It's mostly kevlar and leather so it's really bullet resistant. It doesn't exactly fit me anymore but I figured it couldn't hurt to keep hold of it in case there was ever a use for it.

[Bucky seems to think the whole thing is perfectly ordinary, even though his voice is still clearly confused.]

[Leo doesn't seem completely convinced, wrinkling his snout.] What if he was a tactical gimp...

[He sighs a little.] Its people who dress in all black shiny clothes with belts to like, get stepped on. Its a human thing.

[At his brother's explanation, Donnie has to resist laughing because oh boy that is... Something, not that he knows a better way to explain it. He's just going to keep holding out the tactical suit, only with less of an "ew" air about him with it.]

That...that doesn't sound like a human thing at all.

[Still, Bucky didn't seem terribly bothered, just stepping forward and putting down the shopping bags on the end of his finally-built bed, then reaching out to take the suit from Donnie, turning to tuck it back into the closet amongst the rest of the chaos.]

Or at least if it is a human thing, it's not one I know about, so, no, this isn't for...whatever that is. It was to keep me mostly intact while I killed people.

I'm glad it not a gimp suit, but- its sure weird they put you in like strappy leather thing. It doesn't look very protective at all?

[Maybe a little glad to have the suit taken from him, instead just going to shuffle over to look at the groceries. And don't mind the face he makes at Leo just folding Bucky into the fam, mostly just to make a face then out of any protest. He has come to accept the gargoyle as one of them, after all.]

He did say it's made of kevlar, Leo. That's bullet-resistant material.

[Just casually talking about that kind of thing is way easier than other topics.]

[Fairly ordinary groceries for the most part. Some favorite snacks, some vegetables and ingredients for cooking. A bag of what looks like dried lemon slices. Though there is some peculiar meat wrapped up in brown paper that isn't immediately recognizable at the same time.]

They put me in different outfits depending on what...use I was needed for at the time. This one was close combat. Smaller arms fire. Either way, even before I got here, I wasn't human, to begin with, so those...human things still didn't apply.

I guessss- still. Weird. [He shrugs a little back at his twin.] Also creepy they like dressed you up for different stuff.

[That leaves Leo a little at loss. His attention is on Bucky, so he's unaware of Unidentified Meat in the bag.] Huh, I thought you were human before-? I mean, you looked human back in Felfri?

[Oooo, snacks. Donnie is totally going to help himself to some of that, taking note of the Unidentified Meat but not calling attention to that. Instead focused on having snack instead.]

It makes sense to though, the different uniforms I mean.

[And he has no idea what Bucky was like in Felfri, so just going to open the snack he has snuck out of the groceries and starts eating it. Om nom nom.]

I mean everything with HYDRA is in the past anyway. Their...things don't matter anymore. Like I said I'm just hanging onto the uniform because it's possibly useful somewhere down the line.

[He stepped away from the closet to get the groceries, not seeming at all concerned with Donnie digging out snacks, apparently just glancing to see which one he was eating before heading back out to the kitchen with the bags.]

And I looked human, but I wasn't a human. Haven't been since they started the experiments on me back in the 40's.

Their thing remains gross. Extra gross. [Unsurprisingly, Leo falls into step to follow Bucky out into the hall.

He's curious about what Bucky bought too. He too wants to grab some snacks.] Oh, so we're all just weird lab abominations then, cool, cool.

[A bag of chips is what Donnie got his hands on, chomp chomp, as he follows Bucky and Leo out of the room.]

Just one happy family of experiments then... Not that I'd mean it, that way.

[Just shoving chips into his mouth to stop himself from saying anything else embarrassing.]

[For his part, Bucky chuckled at the descriptions, setting the bags on the kitchen table and taking out the wrapped meat to set it on the counter, before turning to start taking out other bits and pieces to put away.]

Family of experiments sounds about right. The dried fruit is mine, you guys can have at anything else.

[He's figured out teenage boys quickly enough, after all.]

[Leo is openly very pleased by Donnie all but agreeing they are a family. He manages to not be smug about it.]

Family of experiments gotta stick together. [Unsurprisingly as soon as the bag is on the table top, Leo is trying to reach into the bag to fish out some snacks.

He pulls out a snack for himself, popping it open to start eating.] Is that meat for dinner-?

[Good thing Leo refrains from being smug about it, because if he had Donnie would so be taking back what he said.

As he eats his chips, and Leo asks about the meat he also chimes in.]

Yeah, what's for dinner?

Half of this is for dinner, half is for tomorrow's dinner, I'm going to slow roast it with some potatoes and carrots and things so it gets good and tender and seasoned. The other half I'm going to cut into strips and make into stir fry with rice. That said, if there's any other thoughts, I'm open for ideas. I've run through most of the cookbooks at the library.

[Bucky was heading over for the counter, snorting a little at Leo and Donnie both already chowing down on snacks.] I have a feeling I should just start buying in bulk on those.

[Leo nibbles at his snack, actually trying to not cause crumbs, his spider brain can't handle it. He sniffs vaguely in the direction of the meat, unable to figure out what it is.]

Those sound good to me. I mean, you and Mikey make some of the same stuff. Though he made fancier stuff cause he could. He watched all those cooking shows to get that info.

Prrooobbbalyyy, I mean, snacks are good. I can bring some home from work too. I mean, I stocked us up on ramen for the next two months. [Unsurprisingly, Leo's love language is just slowly observing his family and making gifts he give them seem accidental.]

[Donnie just nods, as he's got a mouthful of chips at this moment and it would just be rude to speak with a mouthful of food, as he also moves over to look at the meat.

Sure he's not Mikey but curiosity has him wondering what kind of meat it is, and he can't place it either. As he swallows what he has in his mouth before he talks.]

Man, make me feel inadequate on the bringing stuff home from work front, Leo.

[His tone is light, as it is obviously as joke. Since Leo knows he works at a bar and thus unable to bring anything home.]
